Hello, my name is Carla Holmes. Welcome to my travel blog ℍ𝕠𝕝𝕞𝕖𝕤 ℝ𝕠𝕒𝕞𝕤…
I have a passion for travel, nature and photography, and I’ve been sharing my images and experiences on Instagram @carlaholmes75 since 2011. I’m a self-taught photographer, actively learning new skills and driven to create unique and inspiring content from my base on the Canadian West Coast on beautiful Vancouver Island.

So why start a blog? I feel that this blog will give me the space to do a deep dive into my travel experiences in a way that I haven’t been able to do on my Instagram. Blogging is new to me, so I’m learning, slowly but surely, how to breath life into ℍ𝕠𝕝𝕞𝕖𝕤 ℝ𝕠𝕒𝕞𝕤. It’s been a learning curve, for sure, and (omg!) how about just trying to choose colours, themes and fonts??! I’m super-excited about sharing some amazing adventures and places with you and I hope that ℍ𝕠𝕝𝕞𝕖𝕤 ℝ𝕠𝕒𝕞𝕤 brings you inspiration to do some “roaming” for yourself!

ABOUT ME
I’m Canadian-born to Portuguese parents (from the incredible Açores islands!) and 4th in birth order of 10 children. I was born and raised in the small town of Strathroy, Ontario (2.5 hrs SW of Toronto). I met my husband in 1995, had our first daughter in 1996, married in 2000 and had our youngest daughter in 2002. We began our move west to Edmonton, Alberta in 2009 and further west to Vancouver Island in 2012. I love nature, photography and all forms of travel—road trips, weekend breaks, family trips, adventure and nature travel, boating, camping, hiking, nature walks, to name a few—and sharing it all with a community of people that can relate to, be inspired by, or live vicariously through, these experiences.
